Audrey Welsh, mezzo-soprano, is a native of Houston, Texas, and recently finished her second-year as a Pittsburgh Opera Resident Artist. In the last two seasons, her roles included Meg Page in Falstaff, Kate Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, Lola in Cavalleria rusticana, Clotarco in Armida, Lucy in Fellow Travelers, and the Curator in Woman with Eyes Closed.

This past summer, Welsh joined the Santa Fe Opera as an Apprentice Artist and made her SFO debut in the American Premiere of Tobias Picker’s Lili Elbe as Eurydice and Young Woman. In 2025, returned to Des Moines Metro Opera as an Apprentice Artist singing Lapák and covering Zlatohřbítek in Janáček’s The Cunning Little Vixen. In 2024, Welsh made her DMMO mainstage debut as the Page of Herodias in Strauss’ Salome. 

Welsh was a Chicago District Encouragement Award Winner in the 2026 Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition, a Knoxville District Winner in the 2025 Laffont Competition, and a Houston District/3rd Place Gulf Coast Region Winner in the 2023 Laffont Competition.

Welsh is a 2024 graduate of the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University, where she received a Master of Music in Voice Performance, under the tutelage of Nova Thomas. She is also an alumna of the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Music in Voice and a Bachelor of Arts in Italian Studies.
